Spirituality
keeps me focused and aware of a bigger picture.
Life as a teen is full of details and I need this bigger
view or I’d go crazy.
--Thomas, Age 16
Kids resent parents who control them all the time.
When you feel like you’re missing out on making
your own decisions it makes you pull away from your
parents and they can’t figure out why things are
so out of touch. My parents are in and out of
touch, mostly out these days. When they control me and
try to make me think a certain way I feel squashed and
silenced.
--Eliza, Age 13
Despite increased contact with a world that often tells
them otherwise, teenager’s are by nature divine
beings. They crave a connection to something greater
than themselves while questioning the adults with whom
they live. Teens need, as we all do, to experience
a sacred connection with God that provides meaning and
direction to life. They also desperately want
to maintain an open, loving relationship with us, their
parents, even when it appears that they are pushing
us away.
If you’re the parent of a teen or preteen, this
is your space to find support, answers, and some insight
into this huge spirit housed in a rapidly changing body
who lives in your house.
